Life insurance is usually not something people think about until they start having children or begin to accumulate significant assets or debt. But you shouldn’t leave it too late in life to think about your cover. Ensuring you have an appropriate amount of personal insurance in place when your young and healthy could save you some hassle, and quite possibly a significant amount of money.
By getting cover when you are young, you are less likely to have exclusions or loading (extra costs for health issues) applied to your policy as might be the case when you’re older and your health may have deteriorated.
Once you’ve taken out life cover, and as long as premiums are paid, your policy will remain in force regardless of changes to your health (until you either choose to cancel it or reach the maximum age under your policy).
